Where I've Been
Hey y'all! Long time no blog. I'm here and writing. I'm back after quite a few months of not writing or posting here on faith & flair pens. I wanted to take some time in this post to talk a little bit about where I've been, what I've been up to, and what I see for faith & flair pens going forward- a life update if you will. I hope you all enjoy reading all that I have to share!
Where I've been & what I've been up to:
Long story short, I've been teaching haha. Last year, my summer break was cut a few weeks short as the state I live and teach in decided to start the school year early. We started in mid-August when we typically don't start until the very last week of the month. This is my second year teaching and overall I will say it has been a decent year, I don't want to miss that, but its been difficult too. We started the school year fully online, then had some students come back in person (based on the parents choice or preference) in October, then after winter break we were back fully online again up until mid-February. Some of my student returned in person in mid-February and we have been doing that for the past few weeks. While remote, it was a learning curve for all, but I was very impressed with how my students handled it. Those still online are still going well and I enjoy the bonds I've built even through zoom. And overall, having some students in person has gone fine and at the end of the day I'm glad they are able to come in person and get easier access to services. I will just say that teaching a hybrid model (students online and in-person at the same time) was a difficult learning curve, however, I feel pretty used to it now.
In addition to the many changes in the school year, the program I'm teaching in departmentalized so that I teach math all of our students in a self-contained special education classroom. The other two teachers teach the other subjects to all students as well. I have really enjoyed getting to know and work with all of our students more closely. I also really love teaching math so getting to focus on that subject this year has been really cool. However, I will say I miss getting super close to a small group of students as well as getting to teach and lead activities in the other subjects. So if you couldn't tell by that little description, it's been a crazy school year. I've grown and learned a lot, I love my new 6th grade students, and I have gotten to experience a lot of leadership opportunities. But it has been a lot and I'm looking forward to spring break in a few weeks haha.
On top of teaching, I've spent a lot of time learning and growing as a person as well. I've really worked on building my life outside of school. That includes spending time with my friends and family, reading, coloring, listening to podcasts, working out, spending time in my Bible and more. It's been great and helpful. I know that I've really grown in the last few months and despite all the challenges, my 2021 has started off really well so far. I'd love to talk more about that in future blog posts and also share a lot about Power Sheets (which I've been using for goal setting this year.)
What I see for faith & flair pens:
I've always enjoyed writing and blogging. I've stopped and started multiple times. And I'm honestly okay with that because I think it keeps my blog more authentic and true to who I am. If I'm not in a place to make appropriate space for this, I don't want to keep writing posts that are not true to me. I want to share who I am and write from a place of joy and a place I can feel proud of. Back in August, I just wasn't able to keep up with this as I was transitioning back to school and beginning my 2nd year of teaching. There were no negative feelings or experiences, I just wasn't able to do both. But now I feel like I am able to come back to this with joy and time to share with you all! I want to get back to doing something I love and share some joy along the way. I'm hopeful you all like to see what I have to say and that it'll give you a little happiness along the way. Coming up I like to share unboxings and hauls, books I've read, things I'm up to, and all about my workouts and working out at home. I hope y'all are interested in reading all that I have to say on those things. I see now that if I enjoy this, I should make a little time for it. Writing makes me so happy and it makes me happy to think you all are spending time reading what I have to say!
I hope you stay tuned to see all that faith & flair pens has to offer this time around! Have a blessed day!
XOXO
Faith
